The Baleà ria Foundation opens on Thursday afternoon at the Club Diario de Ibiza the exhibition 25 years of Baleà ria, a group show that brings together the works of various artists from different parts of the Mediterranean where the shipping company operates: Ibiza, Formentera, Menorca, Mallorca, Valencia, Andalusia and Ceuta. Among them, the Ibizan artists Carles Guasch, MarÃa Catalán and Diana Bustamante have participated.
25 Years of Baleà ria is an exhibition to commemorate the history of Baleà ria during this quarter century of experience in the maritime transport sector, as well as a special recognition of the cultural promotion that the Baleà ria Foundation has carried out during these years, facilitating cultural exchange between artists from the territory in which the company is present.
The plurality of origins of the artists involved maintain that it has the purpose of “continuing to promote cultural ties and coexistence between the populations of the different Mediterranean territories”. Likewise, each author has exclusively created a work faithful to his artistic style, thus collecting a sample of various disciplines: sculpture, painting, photography and ceramics.
Ricard Pérez, president of the Baleà ria Foundation, highlighted that “culture is an inalienable part of Baleà ria’s soul” and stressed that “a collective exhibition with artists of different roots and influences is the best way to commemorate the history of the shipping company and to explain its raison d’être. “For 20 years we have been organizing artistic activities to boost cultural and intellectual exchange, thus contributing to social cohesion and the well-being of citizens”, Pérez assured.
Among the events planned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the shipping company, a special itinerary has been planned for this exhibition through the different Culture Markets that the Baleà ria Foundation has. In addition, this program will be accompanied by different activities such as conferences, visits and book presentations to celebrate the company’s journey and its contribution to economic and cultural development.
During the inauguration next Thursday in Ibiza, a cocktail will be served for all attendees accompanied by a performance of traditional Ibizan music. The exhibition is curated by Antoni Torres and can be visited at the Club Diario de Ibiza until May 3.
