The newborn baby who was thrown into a container in the town of Manacor (Mallorca) was alive when she was thrown into the trash. The autopsy performed on the body could not certify this circumstance, but a series of complementary tests carried out by the Legal Institute confirm that the minor was breathing and had craniocerebral injuries that only occur in a living person, according to Última Hora.
Whether the minor was born alive or dead is decisive in deciding what the mother is accused of, who in this case could be accused of the crime of murder. The baby was only about six months pregnant, so the researchers did not completely rule out that she had been born dead, although her suspicions were that the girl was alive when she jumped into the container.
It was the main thesis of the Police, since the agents who rescued the body from the garbage initially indicated that it was moving inside the container and assured that it was breathing when they picked it up. However, it was necessary for these additional tests to confirm the investigators’ suspicions to close this investigation, since the autopsy was inconclusive.
The minor was thrown into a container in Porto Cristo (Manacor) on November 2. A woman who was walking in the area called the Police to report that she had seen suspicious movements in a man, who had then thrown a package into a container.
The witness stated that she had seen a man get out of a car in which at least one other person was also traveling. When she approached the container and opened it to see what she had thrown in, the woman claimed that she heard a faint cry, so she decided to immediately call the agents. From that moment on, an extensive investigation was opened by the Judicial Police, with recordings from numerous cameras located in the area viewed.
The Police immediately cordoned off the entire area and collected testimonies from people who were in the vicinity, which were decisive in advancing the investigations and which allowed the mother to be arrested days after the event. She confessed that she was at home with relatives when she felt unwell. When her relatives picked her up in her car to take her to a health center, the woman claimed that she gave birth in the vehicle and that they decided to throw her baby away because she had been stillborn.
