This is the image of the first sunrise of autumn from the beaches of Empúries, in L’Escala, Alt Empordà region, and we can admire it in The Readers’ Photos of La Vanguardia.

Sant Martí d’Empúries is a town just 200 meters north of the archaeological site of Empúries. It is located on the remains of Palaiópolis, the first nucleus of the Phocian colony and is, therefore, the direct heir of the ancient city of Empúries.

Walking at dawn between Sant Martí d’Empúries and L’Escala allows us to contemplate the autumn sunrise in this way, while at the same time we enjoy the beaches in a more reflective way than during the summer months.

This is a route that can be done on foot or by bicycle. It is between 2 and 3 km maximum distance. A pleasant walk that allows us to start the day with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean horizon.

This walk was inaugurated in 1992 on the occasion of the Barcelona Olympic Games and, among other places of interest, it runs through the Greco-Roman site of Empúries, the old Moll Grec and the Les Coves viewpoint.
