I have captured that series of photographs for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos of the Vol de Coloms balloons flying over the peaks of Olot between thin clouds and the morning sun.
From the sky you can appreciate the spectacle of the Garrotxa region in its purest form. I have flown in a balloon three times over Garrotxa and each time I have been more amazed. Autumn, furthermore, is a season that, seen from the sky, is mesmerizing, especially just seeing the Fageda d’en Jordà from the air.
A classic balloon route through Garrotxa is the one that starts from Olot and takes us through Santa Pau, the Vall d’en Bas and up to Besalú. The truth is that the experience is unforgettable.
La Garrotxa is a region famous for the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone, an immense natural park with a large number of extinct volcanic cones.
It is home to some medieval towns, such as Santa Pau, which was built around a castle, and Besalú, which has a beautiful Romanesque bridge.
