The second section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra has sentenced José Luis Abet, the man who shot and killed his ex-wife, his ex-sister-in-law and his ex-mother-in-law in September 2019, in accordance with the verdict of the jury court. in Valga (Pontevedra).

The members of the jury, as stated in the sentence collected by the Efe agency, considered it proven that the victims had no chance to flee or defend themselves.

Specifically, the Provincial Court has imposed on him, for the murder of his ex-partner, the sentence of 24 and a half years in prison; for the murder of her ex-mother-in-law, 23 and a half years in prison; and, for his ex-sister-in-law, reviewable permanent prison (for having been previously convicted of two murders, as established in article 140.2 of the Penal Code).

The Court has taken into account, in the three crimes, the aggravating circumstance of having committed them due to gender discrimination and the extenuating circumstance of collaboration. In addition, as the perpetrator of two crimes of mental injury to his children, when the minors witnessed the triple massacre, he has been sentenced to nine years in prison, and, as the perpetrator of a crime of illegal possession of weapons, to two years in prison. jail.

It has also imposed a ban on residing in the municipality of Valga for 32 years and the deprivation of parental authority over their children.
