The AMBici metropolitan bicycle service will begin operating in Badalona (Barcelona) next April and will have 31 stations and 341 fully electric bicycles.
As explained by the City Council of Badalona (North Barcelona), the bicycle mobility system that is being installed in this municipality is part of the network that will serve a total of 15 towns in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB).
The service started working on January 30 in six municipalities of the AMB, specifically in Cornellà de Llobregat, El Prat, Esplugues, Sant Boi, Sant Joan Despí and Sant Just Desvern, and next April it will do it in Badalona, ??Santa Coloma of Gramenet, Viladecans, Molins de Rei, Gavà and Castelldefels. The towns of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Sant Adrià de Besòs will join this metropolitan bicycle service before summer.
The presentation of the implementation of the AMBici in Badalona was given by the Vice President of Mobility, Transport and Sustainability of the AMB, Antoni Poveda, and the mayor of the municipality, Rubén Guijarro.
The activation, in the coming weeks, of the three transfer stations of Barcelonès Nord that will facilitate the connection between AMBici and Bicing, Barcelona’s municipal bicycle service and which is not included in this metropolitan network, is also planned.
