There are mutiny vibrations in the Podemos territories. In the absence of the state citizen council of the formation, a body in which all the territories are represented and which, despite having the highest authority between congresses, is still not convened, the territories of the purples have begun to pressure the state leadership to reach a integration agreement in Sumar.
The coordinator of Extremadura, Irene de Miguel, assures that the Extremadura citizen council has unanimously supported the integration in Sumar and maintains that the state leadership has “the mandate” of the entire organization to reach an agreement. She calls for “those who do not want unity to step aside” and stresses that “no agreement does not enter into the equation.”
“This is how we have transferred it to the general secretary (Ione Belarra) and to the organization secretary (Lilith Verstrynge)” explained De Miguel, who speaks from the authority of leading a unity list that has revalidated results in the elections. That is why he gives the example of the unity process that the United for Extremadura demands from the state leadership: “It is not an electoral unit, we do not unite to win more quota, we work in unity, as a confluence, not as a coalitionâ€. He also stressed that, given the “shipwreck” of the party in the 28-M elections, the negotiation process with Sumar should be approached “with humility.”
In the same sense, Begoña Alfaro, who headed the candidacy for unity on the left and who also managed to revalidate her seats, has pronounced: “In Navarra we have marked a path and the results have proved us right.” That is why he believes that “this has to be the path followed at the state level and we trust that the negotiators are equally clear about it.” Anything else, he maintains, would be “an impressive irresponsibility.”
The candidate for the community of Madrid, Alejandra Jacinto, spoke yesterday for the first time and did so regretting that the common political action that she undertook together with Más Madrid during the last two years had not been transferred to the electoral candidacy, since Unidas Podemos he was left out of the assembly by 5,000 votes. Jacinto, in her open letter, claims a unity “not as a fetish, unity not only as a result, unity as a way of doing politics in common.”
Precisely yesterday, Mas Madrid gathered its bases, which with 96% of the votes agreed to join the Sumar platform.
In the Valencian Community, militants and officials from Podem, after the very poor result of the regional list headed by Héctor Illueca, who has been left out of the Valencian Courts causing the fall of the Botà nic, have launched a manifesto in which they demand “integration into a broad confluence structured from Sumar, through primaries at the provincial level that guarantee that the final decision rests with the bases of Podemâ€. At the same time – reported Hèctor Sanjuán and Enrique Bolland – they demand that the regional leadership “immediately assume responsibility for the disastrous results obtained†and, in particular, point to Pilar Lima and MarÃa Teresa Pérez.
The Galician leadership of Podemos has also opted for the agreement. The coordinator of Podemos Galicia, Borja San Román, insisted yesterday – 48 hours before the end of the deadline to register the coalitions and after the spokesman for Podemos in Congress, Pablo Echenique, pointed out that “they are already late” for an agreement- that “there is still time for unity” and urged the state leadership to “make what is necessary possible.” San Román has insisted that “the objective is the defeat of PP and Vox” and to achieve it, “the path is unity”.
The anecdote is carried out by the circle of Podemos in the Pontevedra town of Salceda de Castelas, which, in addition to joining Sumar, calls on the state leadership to stand firm with its bases and positions, and put an end to public harassment of other forces of the same space to avoid “a hostile climate that should have been stopped a long time ago.”
