The Andorran team will be Spain’s first rival in preparation for the Euro Cup being held in Germany. The match will be played on June 5 at the Nuevo Vivero stadium (Badajoz), and will serve to honor the Extremadura Football Federation, which is celebrating its hundredth anniversary.
The match, which will take place ten days before the team’s debut in the Euro Cup against Croatia, will be the first of two that Luis de la Fuente’s team will play before the start of the European Championship.
‘La Roja’, which this March will face Colombia in London and Brazil at the Santiago Bernabéu, will face Andorra for the second time in its history. The first time was also in a preparation match for the Euro Cup, in 2004. In that match, held in Getafe, Spain won 4-0 with goals from Morientes, Baraja, César and Valerón.
The team will return to Badajoz, a city that has hosted three “La Roja” matches, and where the balance is unbeatable: 16 goals for and zero against. The wins in these three previous matches were against Cyprus 8-0 in 1999, against Liechtenstein 4-0 in 2006 and against Georgia 4-0 in 2021. On June 5, a new victim can be added to the list before leave for Germany.
