The Spanish women’s team has beaten Portugal in the final of the Futsal European Championship played this Sunday in Porto. Supported by their fans, the Portuguese have advanced twice, but Spain has reacted to tie the game and send it to extra time, where they have not been able to undo the equality on the scoreboard and the final has ended up being decided from the penalty spot .

Spain thus revalidates the title won in the last edition, also against Portugal (0-4) and culminates a brilliant European Championship in which they have not given up a single one of the ten games they have played. Ale de Paz, with seven goals in five games, and goalkeeper Silvia Aguete, with an impeccable performance, were the big stars of the final.

The game did not start well for the Reds, who saw Portugal take the lead in the 12th minute thanks to a goal from Ana Azevedo and increased the concern of the Spanish with a new goal from Anota Pisko coming off a corner. Fortunately, Spain reacted quickly and just a minute later, Ale de Paz would close the gap with the 2-1 before going into the break.

The Burela footballer would once again be decisive with her second goal, which came five minutes from the end of the match, forcing an extension that would be heart-stopping. In added time, Silvia Aguete saved a double penalty against Portugal and kept Spain’s options alive so that, practically in the last action of the first part of extra time, María Sanz culminated the comeback with a 2-3 win. Savoring the triumph, Anota Pisko reappeared with a cruel goal that took the final to a penalty shootout.

Patricia González ‘Peque’, Amelia Romero, Mayte Mateo and Irene Córdoba hit their shots, but if this final has someone’s name engraved on it, it is Silvia Aguete. The Marín Futsal goalkeeper was decisive for the Spanish triumph, stopping Portugal’s shots on two occasions and sealing the second Spanish title.
