Crazy party at the Coliseum. The draw between Getafe and Rayo Vallecano had everything: an own goal, a sending off, a special dedication and two missed penalties. The Getafe goalkeeper, David Soria, with his save on Raúl Tomás’s penalty, extends the life of a Quique Sánchez Flores on a tightrope.

Rayo took the lead in the 38th minute with an own goal from Arambarri and Getafe equalized in the 76th minute after a mistake by Stole Dimitrievski, who did not see that Enes Unal was next to him and, when trying to get the ball out long , crashed it into the striker and ended in a goal. Before, the locals had been left with ten due to the expulsion of Carles Aleñá in 54.

Almost always superior in the derby, Getafe rowed against the current during a strange clash in which they led the charge and in which they took many sticks that they had to constantly overcome. Until the end, he could not breathe easy, subscribing to uncertainty and rescued by David Soria, who saved his team on the horn after saving a penalty from Raúl de Tomás.

Andoni Iraola’s team arrived at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez at the worst possible moment, a stadium that has almost always been very good at it (four victories in seven visits) and whose public decided to turn to support Getafe in the second consecutive match point that Quique Sánchez Flores had to face.

Last day, the coach of the azulón team overcame the first against Atlético on the horn thanks to a goal from Enes Ünal in the final minutes and with which Getafe signed a savior draw (1-1) for their coach.

The data, a priori, did not help Quique, who not only had to row against Getafe’s poor results in their stadium against Rayo. The numbers also indicated a more than likely suffering, because there had never been such a difference in points before a derby at the Coliseum.

The fourteen units away between the two clubs, with Rayo pending the Champions League and Getafe fully involved in the fight for relegation, showed an abysmal difference that could affect the mood of both teams.

With this script, Iraola opted for his gala eleven with the return of Álvaro García and the departure of Andrés Martín, while Quique put aside his usual 5-3-2 to play with a classic 4-4-2 in which included Gonzalo Villar. The footballer on loan from Roma appeared in a line-up for the first time and together with Luis Milla he formed a very creative and unprecedented midfielder at Getafe that would barely last 24 minutes due to the injury of the second.

But the great protagonist of the first act was not Villar. Mauro Arambarri, whom Quique named the “franchise player” of the azulón club the day before, became the man who appeared in all the important plays of the first act. Ubiquitous on every blade of the Coliseum lawn, he starred in the best and worst moments of his team.

Although Getafe did not have the ball, they did accumulate almost all the chances. The Uruguayan seal was present in the majority. His were the centers that Enes Ünal, Domingos Duarte and Omar Alderete did not take advantage of in three headers. He also brushed the goal with a poisoned shot from outside the area that almost surprised Dimitrievski.

And his was also the goal from his own goal that opened the series of misfortunes for Getafe, who went to rest with a goal against in the only serious approach of Rayo Vallecano. With a corner kick taken by Isi Palazon, Iraola’s men took an excessive prize thanks to a fortuitous shot from the Uruguayan.

The blue jinx did not stop with the action of the Uruguayan, because in the first ten minutes after the restart he went from ecstasy to sinking in just an instant. First, with a penalty that Borja Mayoral missed and, second, with the expulsion of Carles Aleñá for a double yellow card. Getafe went from a possible tie to playing with one man less, behind on the scoreboard and under pressure to come back to save their coach.

However, despite having everything against it, Getafe did not collapse. Quite the opposite. At least he added arrests to his painful situation and pushed by Portu and by Munir El Haddadi he went for the tie. The Moroccan grazed him with a shoe that Florian Lejeune took under the sticks and at the same time he was saved with a great intervention by David Soria with a shot by Fran García.

Then, luck finally sided with Getafe. With a gift from Dimitrievski and with the faith of Enes Ünal, who crossed the path of a shot from the Macedonian goalkeeper, he rebounded a more than deserved draw that he did not see as enough, because Munir was able to extend the score right after.

But Getafe still had one last shock reserved. On this occasion, in the form of a penalty against, the one that Soria stopped Raúl de Tomás with an impressive stretch that prevented the total collapse of his team with two minutes to go. His stretch and Ünal’s faith may not be enough to save Quique in a match in which Rayo also added a sterile point to get closer to the Champions League positions.
