Former councilors Rebeca Torró and Arcadi España, now syndic and deputy syndic of the socialist parliamentary group in Les Corts Valencianes, are expected to join the Government of Spain as Secretaries of State for Industry and Territorial Policy. According to Cadena SER and confirmed by this newspaper, both socialists will be appointed tomorrow by the Council of Ministers and have already requested their resignation in Courts.
Both are people of Ximo Puig’s utmost confidence. Arcadi España has been chief of staff of the former president and Minister of Territorial Policy and, later, of the Treasury, and has always been part of the narrowest circle of the PSPV leader. Rebeca Torró was Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, and was part of the team that achieved the implementation of the Volkswagen gigafactory in Sagunt. As trustee of the PSPV she acted as a battering ram against the executive of the PP and Vox in Corts.
With these appointments, the PSPV reinforces its presence in the Government of Pedro Sánchez, after the discomfort caused by the non-incorporation of Ximo Puig to the Council of Ministers, where as a Valencian there is only the Minister of Science and Universities, Diana Morant.
They would be joined in the central government by Rosa Obrer, who was general director of roads with the Botànic, and who would join as general director in the Ministry of Transport, also as head of roads. This Tuesday it is also expected that the appointment of Ángel Contreras as the new president of Adif will be ratified.
His election will mean making changes to the PSPV parliamentary group in les Corts. According to various sources, the current regional deputies José Muñoz and Rosa Peris could occupy the positions of trustee and deputy spokesperson.
