“What fear does the Popular Party have of debating?” Pedro Sánchez required this Thursday, given the delays he attributes to Alberto Núñez Feijóo to set a date and time for an electoral face-off between the two. The explanation, in the opinion of the President of the Government, is evident: “The impossibility of being able to explain this unfortunate absurdity that we are seeing of the exchange of votes for rights”, he has denounced the negotiations and agreements that the PP and the extreme right of Vox are signing. in autonomous communities and town halls.

Sánchez has highlighted that the PP is distributing positions and institutions with Vox at the expense of “the rights of women and the LGTBI collective, and many other setbacks that are being raised in cities, towns and autonomous communities, where the PP adds with the extreme right”.

“No society advances by going backwards, and that is what we are also playing on July 23,” said the President of the Government, during the act that he held this Thursday in Ferraz with the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas . “That is why we ask for the majority trust of the citizens, so that Spain continues advancing four more years, and we do not go back 5, 15, 20, or 50 years, as the right and the extreme right ask for.”

Sánchez has defended, in this sense, a Spain “that does not give free rein to its instincts for revenge, as we see in some of the hate speech that is being raised by the ultra-right and that is assumed in the first person by the PP”. “You cannot repeal what works, Spain cannot advance based on setbacks, but on rights, conquests, and the consolidation of those rights,” he has demanded.

The leader of the PSOE has assured that he is proposing an electoral campaign “as the citizens deserve and demand”, by transferring information where he explains his management in front of the Government, and announces his proposals for the next four years, “which are many and very important ”. Today, for example, he has announced that, if he manages to revalidate the position, he will approve a family farming law, just as the day before he proposed extending maternity and paternity leave up to 20 weeks.

He also explained that, this same Thursday, the organization secretary of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán, has sent two letters to the communication groups that have requested to organize electoral debates -RTVE, Atresmedia, Mediaset and Prisa-, accepting all invitations. “We have said yes to all the debates,” Sánchez stressed. In this way, he tries to continue putting pressure on the leader of the PP, even so that these debates are held with his empty chair.

“The PP continues to defoliate the daisy,” Sánchez lamented, given Feijóo’s lack of specificity to accept the electoral face-to-face. And a joke has even been allowed: “It seems that for Feijóo the debates are like gyms in January, one signs up but never goes”, he ironized.
