“I demand that you ask for Ayuso’s resignation as president of the Community of Madrid, have courage, be brave, even if it costs you your position, like Casado,” Pedro Sánchez complained to Alberto Núñez Feijóo, this Wednesday during the session of control of the Government in Congress. The bitter political fight between the PSOE and the PP, due to the alleged cases of corruption, has thus triggered the magnitude of the decibels in the Chamber of the Carrera de San Jerónimo.
Sánchez, the day before, avoided bringing up the case of alleged tax fraud that now affects the partner of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, in the Senate control session. But this morning it exploded, given the attacks received by the leader of the Popular Party.
Feijóo has accused Sánchez of maintaining a “complicit silence” in the face of the alleged corruption scandal of the Koldo case that affects the Government and the PSOE: “He knew it and covered it up.” And he has urged him to “show his face” in the face of this “very serious case of corruption.” And the President of the Government, in his response, has jumped to slaughter the leader of the PP.
After alleging that the Government is collaborating with Justice, being accountable to the Cortes with the creation of a commission of investigation and assuming its political responsibilities, Sánchez has accused Feijóo of using a “double standard.” “Be consistent with what you preach,” he has demanded of the PP bench.
Sánchez recalled that the PP came out in a rush last year to ask for the resignation of the former general director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, after the accusation of her husband for alleged prevarication and embezzlement, in a case that was later archived. “I demand that you ask for Ayuso’s resignation as president of the Community of Madrid,” the head of the Executive has demanded, consequently, to the leader of the main opposition party. “Be brave,” he called on him, remembering that his predecessor in the presidency of the PP, Pablo Casado, ended up struck down in 2022 by his own party when he demanded explanations from Isabel Díaz Ayuso for the alleged irregularities that then affected the brother of the Madrid president in the purchase and sale of masks during the pandemic.
Feijóo has replied to Sánchez that his strategy of starting the fan, to try to cover up the Koldo case with the controversy that is now affecting Ayuso, only demonstrates his “desperation.” But the leader of the PP has considered this reaction by the leader of the PSOE a “very serious mistake.” “Surely they are not very happy at home,” Feijóo warned him, in a veiled allusion to his wife, Begoña Gómez, who is also being implicated in the alleged corruption plot in the Koldo case.
Sánchez has once again demanded that Feijóo demand Ayuso’s resignation on several occasions, given the investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office for alleged tax fraud against the partner of the president of the Community of Madrid, Alberto González, “even if it costs him his position.” leader of the PP.
And, in response to Feijóo’s veiled allusion to the wife of the President of the Government, Sánchez has once again loaded all the artillery, blaming the current leader of the PP for his “close friendship for five years with a drug trafficking boss in Galicia” , in reference to Marcial Dorado. Sánchez recalled that for five years, as a senior official of the Xunta de Galicia, Feijóo shared a table and tablecloth, hotel, vacations and trips to the Canary Islands, Ibiza, Portugal and Andorra with this “drug trafficking boss.” In this last visit to Andorra with Feijóo, he assured, Dorado allegedly laundered up to 21 million French francs.
That, he assured, is the “big difference” between Sánchez and Feijóo, between the PSOE and the PP. “You, with that history, have been able to climb to the top of your political party, and in my political party you would not have even become a town councilor,” he concluded.
