Sánchez asks those who voted for the PSOE in the General Election to give them their trust in Galicia

The first secretary of the Socialist Party, Pedro Sánchez, appealed this morning in Vigo to all those voters who on July 23 in Galicia voted for his party to put that ballot back in the ballot box on February 18.

In the last general elections, the PSOE obtained 30% of the votes cast in Galicia. In these autonomous communities their expectations are significantly below this percentage.

Sanchez has asked voters to think before voting about who offers the greatest guarantees for political change in this community where the PP has governed with an absolute majority for 15 years. “I ask to concentrate the entire vote for change in the Socialist Party. Vote for those who know how to govern change,” Sánchez claimed in this event in which he supported the socialite candidate for the Xunta, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro.

Sánchez dedicated the first words of his rally to the agents who died in Barbate. “I would like to convey our condolences, solidarity and the enormous gratitude we have to the Civil Guard and the State Security Forces and Corps.”

Then he attacked his main adversary, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who was president of the Xunta until just two years ago. “You Galicians gained a lot when Feijóo left Galicia but all of us Spaniards lost. Spain – he added – does not need such an opposition, which denies territorial diversity, denies political pluralism, denies freedoms and denies scientific evidence of the climate emergency.

In this sense, he has stated that farmers do not need the “denialist dogmatism of the extreme right” and has listed the measures that the Government is going to undertake to try to alleviate the discomfort of the primary sector, such as the review of the Common Agricultural Policy, financing of projects with European funds and legal reforms so that the market does not impose conditions that make agricultural operations unviable.

The socialist leader has defended the management of his Government and at this point has announced that the Council of Ministers next Tuesday will fulfill a commitment announced a few weeks ago by which the Official Credit Institute will have an aid fund of 2.5 billion of euros -Sánchez in his speech erred and said 2000- for young people who want to acquire a first home.

The event held in Vigo is one of the largest -1,600 people- that have been held in the campaign of the Galician socialists.
