Periscopi, the musical cycle of La Mirona and the Fundació Casa de la Música, will take place until September 15, which aims to “give visibility to emerging, local and off-the-beaten-track proposals.”
As the organization explains, “whether under the label of emerging groups, independent scene or amateur proposals, there are a majority of artists who do not have visibility, basically because there is no circuit that is a showcase.” For this reason, “they remain out of the media focus” and, therefore, “tools are needed to make them visible.”
This is how Periscopi wants to be “a tool to give visibility to these artists: emerging proposals, local and outside the usual circuits”. It intends to become “a showcase to be able to listen to artists who now, despite not being headliners at festivals, have a lot to say”.
The Periscopi 2023 concerts are held in the outer space of La Mirona, Room 3, giving the opportunity to all kinds of bands. The performances are free to the public to facilitate the discovery of this new talent, but they are “remunerated with a fixed amount for each musician”.
In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see images of some of the moments of the performance of the Buk 5 from Girona in the Sala La Mirona.
These young musicians play classics (and not so classics) of all times that, according to them, should not be missed: From Ray Charles to Police, through Led Zeppelin, Els Pets or Fleetwood Mac, they revive those very special melodies that everyone we know, passed through his particular label, ranging from blues to punk rock.
