An accident during the filming of a stunt scene for the sequel to Gladiator 2 in Morocco left at least six injured by burns, US media reported on Friday.

The incident, which occurred last Wednesday, caused a total of six professionals to end up receiving medical treatment, four of whom remain hospitalized, according to the statement that Paramount Pictures – the studio responsible for this film – sent to the US press. USA

The injuries to the Gladiator staff, reportedly stunt performers, were “not life-threatening” and their health is “stable”.

“The well-being of the cast and crew is of the utmost importance to us, and we have strict health and safety procedures in place for all of our productions,” a Paraomunt spokesperson said in the statement.

Likewise, no member of the main cast -among which are Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington or Connie Nielsen- was injured, so the production has not announced that it will interrupt its recordings.

In fact, the release date has not been changed either and it is scheduled to be distributed internationally in theaters on November 22, 2024.

The second part of Gladiator aspires to reap the same success as the original film in 2000 when, also directed by Ridley Scott with David Scarpa as a screenwriter, it managed to establish itself as one of the highest grossing films of the season and won the Oscar for best actor to its protagonist, Russel Crowe.
