In total, the company delivered 519,200 cars, including the Seat and Cupra brands, which represents an increase of 34.6% compared to 2022 and the second best year for the company.
In the midst of the transition towards electric cars, the big push came once again from Cupra, with 230,700 cars, 50.9% more. However, the Seat brand also registered double-digit growth: 288,400 vehicles, 24% more. “These figures show that Seat has the appropriate strategy with its two brands. Cupra’s record results and the fact that the Seat brand has grown again shows that we are overcoming the difficulties we have faced in recent years, such as covid and supply shortages. Despite the current difficult economic context, we look to the future with true optimism,” Wayne Griffiths, CEO of Seat and Cupra, remarked in a note.
“Cupra and Seat are, together, a powerful combination that offers the best of both worlds to consumers in this period of transformation of the automotive industry,” said Kai Vogler, executive vice president of commercial. “We plan to continue offering a full range of options to drivers across the board, from the most efficient traditional combustion engines to 100% electric vehicles,” he added.
Thanks to overcoming major bottlenecks in supplies, production recorded a sharp increase, with 534,257 cars, 27% more. Production at the Martorell plant – including the Audi A1 – grew by 20.9% to 443,443 vehicles. Germany continues as the company’s main market, with 129,100 vehicles, 22.6% more than in 2022 and a record market share of 4.5%. Spain maintains second position with 79,200 (26%), followed by the United Kingdom, with 57,800 (58%). Next are France (33,100 units, 54%) and Italy (31,600, 25%).
The Cupra Formentor has established itself as the company’s best-selling model, with 120,100 units, 23% more. On the Seat side, the Arona was the best seller, with 89,000 units and an increase of 25.3%.
Short-term growth plans remain focused on Cupra, which this year will launch the Tavascan, its first 100% electric SUV, manufactured in China.
