One of the most anticipated moments of the Corpus Christi festivities in Granada is the Tarasca parade, a unique parade in which a fashionably dressed female figure walks through the streets of the city riding on a dragon and accompanied by giants and big heads. .
As every year, the Tarasca will take to the streets on the Wednesday of the fair, which is one of the favorite moments for children. It will leave the Town Hall in the Plaza del Carmen at 12 noon on June 7 and will tour the center of the capital, despite the possible rains that could threaten the parade, according to the forecast.
One of its peculiarities that also causes a lot of expectation is that every year it changes its figure, changes its clothes and hairstyle according to fashion. The City Council grants the honor of dressing and styling the Tarasca to local designers and hairdressers and always generates all kinds of criticism.
This time it will be a model by the designer MarÃa Francés with makeup by Antonio Valiente Hair
Starting at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 7, the Tarascan can be seen leaving on the back of the dragon from the Plaza del Carmen where the Granada City Hall is located.
The parade of this traditional figure, accompanied by a whole entourage of giants and big heads, lasts approximately two hours, so it will end around 2:00 p.m. upon his return to the town hall.
It is a circular route that will parade through the center of the city, starting from Plaza del Carmen and continuing through Reyes Católicos. Then it turns towards Gran VÃa de Colón, changes direction again in Cárcel Baja street, continues through Capuchinas, turns to pass through Plaza de la Trinidad, crosses Mesones street and turns again into Reyes Católicos to get back into City Hall.
