Agents of the National Police have arrested two men in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) as alleged perpetrators of firing shots at the road traffic control cameras installed on Avenida Blas Infante in the town.
The National Police has reported in a press release that the first detainee is the alleged perpetrator of the events who, covering his face with a clown mask and armed with a sawed-off shotgun, fired twice at the control cameras. of traffic.
According to the National Police, this circumstance caused moments of stupor and panic among the large number of drivers who were driving on the road at that time, one of the busiest in the city.
Given the clear indications that he was a violent person in possession of several firearms, the Seville-based GOES unit was involved in his arrest and the unit’s agents entered the address where the man took refuge on June 22.
At the moment in which the individual was surrounded by the agents, he interposed his partner as a human shield in the corridor of the house, at the same time that he wielded a large knife.
According to the police account, he took a bottle of butane and opened the spigot, cutting the rubber and making it easier for the gas to escape, while trying to light it with a lighter with the intention of burning the policemen or exploding the cylinder.
He was able to be reduced and disarmed by the GOES before achieving his objectives, snatching the hunting knife that he was brandishing, while the woman was rescued and treated without having suffered physical harm.
In the search of the detainee’s home, an illegally modified hunting shotgun, a machete with a blade of more than half a meter, a prohibited electric baton, a metallic baseball bat, a compressed air rifle, a telescopic sight for a firearm were located. and six unfired shotgun shells.
In addition, the clown mask was located as well as the clothes he was wearing in the events, all together with a helmet with Nazi symbols and several license plates that do not correspond to any of his vehicles and that are currently being investigated whether they can be stolen. .
