The scandal has reached the COPE chain, and more specifically to the sports newsroom. And it is that, as El Confidencial points out, a well-known journalist from the sports program Tiempo de juego, presented by Paco González, Pepe Domingo Castaño and Manolo Lama, allegedly defrauded his colleagues of thousands of euros.

It seems, according to the aforementioned media, that this worker, a personal friend of Paco González, would have faked terminal cancer in the last year that required very expensive treatment. For this reason, both González and the rest of the program’s colleagues would have devoted themselves to his recovery, providing him with around 10,000 euros a week from the program’s premiums. However, the treatment in question did not exist and the amount was never allocated to alleviate the patient’s tumor. It was all a lie.

The Cope newsroom is in a state of shock after catching one of its members in an alleged scam on his program partners. We are talking about Guillermo Valadés, better known as Willy, a collaborator of Tiempo de Juego for more than 20 years and a close friend of Paco González.

According to the first information published by El Confidencial, Valadés informed his colleagues that they had detected a brain tumor with metastases in his back and that the prognosis did not look good. In fact, the only option to survive would be an experimental treatment at the Clínica de Navarra.
