Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelonès Nord) will have, at the beginning of 2024, two new developments with 54 new apartments under an affordable rental regime, a good part of which will be used to facilitate access to housing for young people.

Of the total number of apartments, 16 will be located in the Les Oliveres complex and 38 more in the building under construction in Plaza de Alfons Comín. This is an action framed in the Local Housing Plan approved in 2021 to increase the public housing stock for groups with housing needs.

This spring, the City Council will complete the construction works of the new building for residential housing and collective accommodation for young people that is part of the Les Oliveres complex, with access from the Font de l’Alzina road.

The project consisted of the rehabilitation of a disused three-story municipal building with 16 homes and shared common services such as laundry, storage rooms, living spaces or use rooms. Its design has been carried out under criteria of sustainability and energy efficiency with the installation of photovoltaic panels to produce electricity. With the recovery of this building, progress is made in the transformation of spaces that had been left unused or half-built to be used to address the housing and social emergency.

In the Eix Bruc area of ??activity, in the Fondo neighborhood, and on land given by the City Council, the last works on the block of flats designed by Incasòl, a public company of the Generalitat for the promotion of public housing.

It is located near the Fund building where the market, library and nursery are located, and has 38 rental homes, of which there is a percentage reserved for young people. The new new construction building, sustainable and energy efficient, has community services and its own parking.

In order to participate in the award processes for these homes when they are launched, interested parties must previously register in the Registry of Housing Applicants with Official Protection of Catalonia.

Registration is valid for one year – it must be renewed – and to access it you must be of legal age, reside in a Catalan municipality and meet the income limit established by regulations for people awarded subsidized housing.

To be part of this registry, the first step that is necessary is to fill out the registration form (www.registresolicitants.cat) and then make an appointment at the Local Housing Office (seuelectronica.gramepark.cat) to submit it, along with the required documentation, at the Local Housing Office, located at the headquarters of the Gramepark municipal company.

Once registration is formalized and confirmed, applicants can participate in all housing allocation processes called by the different administrations, as long as they meet the access criteria.

According to Núria Parlon, mayor of Santa Coloma, the incorporation of these new 54 homes into the public park “is an example of the good pace with which the Santa Coloma Local Housing Plan is advancing.” It represents another important step “in the coherent and effective deployment of the measures it contemplates”, especially for young people, seniors and families in the city. “We continue in the line of promoting equal opportunities with the aim of guaranteeing access to decent, sustainable and energy efficient housing,” declares the mayor. “A right of our neighbors. A model that we will also continue in other neighborhoods of Santa Coloma,” she concludes.
