Starting this week, Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelonès Nord) has a team of nighttime civic agents who will ensure good coexistence in the city. This agent recovers the figure of the former night watchman and will have a special impact on all aspects related to civility.
This is a pilot program financed by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) within the framework of the ‘Comprehensive neighborhood program for income improvement’ that will last until December 2024. The project begins to operate with 4 agents distributed in two neighborhoods, Sant Joan Baptista and Sant Adrià Nord, which will work from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Civic agents will focus on various tasks such as promoting the proper use of containers, monitoring the misuse of public space with regard to bulky waste, promoting civility and dissemination of municipal regulations, detection of uncivil behavior and vandalism. In another order, they will also provide support and care for people who feel dangerous while traveling at night.
Soon the Sant Adrià City Council will provide a telephone number so that residents who need it can contact the new watchmen.
