The City Council of Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelonès Nord) has launched a new service aimed at families, the Canguteca, a free initiative for all boys and girls between three and 12 years old in the city.
The mayor, Filo Cañete and the councilor for the Politiques d’Egualtat area, Paula Dieste, have announced the new service of which they have highlighted two basic objectives. The first is that the minors of Sant Adrià can have a recreational leisure space with educational activities and an environment different from the family and school environment.
La Canguteca also aims to facilitate family and personal conciliation for residents so that they have time while their children are properly cared for to offer them quality leisure time, with games and activities adapted to each age, based on the values ??of co-education.
The new service is located on the ground floor of 10-12 Santa Caterina Street. Those interested must register in the Ludik Concilia service. The hours are Monday to Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. during school periods and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during school holidays. Families can make a reservation for a maximum of two days a week. It is a service financed by the Generalitat through the Temps i Cures program.
The service, which the head of Igualtat at the Sant Adrià City Council, Joanna Aloy, compares to a playroom, has two monitors from an outsourced service and has a cost of 40,000 euros financed by the Generalitat, the cost of the premises and cleaning takes over the Council. The capacity limit in the space is 20 children and during the first three months the service will operate on a trial basis “to be able to better adapt it based on demand.”
