Isidre Gironès, the first vice president of the Gremi de Restauració of Barcelona, ??will now assume the duties of president of the entity, following the resignation presented by Salva Vendrell. Vendrell’s resignation occurs one year and one month after his appointment as president and a few days after the annual party organized by the Gremi.

The entity has made public both the resignation of Vendrell and the appointment of Gironès after a meeting of the Board of Directors, in which it was agreed “unanimously” to renew the trust placed in the figure of the director, Roger Pallarols and his team. for the next ten years.”

In a public note, the body has assessed the work carried out by the Gremi since the incorporation of Pallarols in 2013, highlighting, “among other recent successful processes” the consolidation of the terraces that were authorized during the pandemic “or the agreement on the rate.” However, the reasons for Vendrell’s resignation have not been explained.

The replacement occurs following what the statutes establish. Thus, Isidre Gironès adds to the first vice presidency, a position that he already held and will continue to hold, the functions of president. Gironès, 83 years old, started working in the restaurant sector when he was 14 years old. In 1970 he founded the Ca l’Isidre restaurant, one of the most emblematic establishments in the Raval and which is currently run by his daughter, Núria Gironès.

Salva Vendrell left the presidency of the Barcelona Comerç foundation, which brings together the commercial hubs of the city’s neighborhoods, in January of last year to assume the presidency of Gremi.
