Ukraine, KYIV aEUR” Russia bombed Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, invading a building that repairs damaged train cars.

Four Russian missiles crashed into four buildings within the railway compound. A fifth missile was also sighted outside the compound. A railway worker sustained minor injuries, but no other injuries were sustained in the strike that occurred at 5:05 a.m. local Sunday.

Russia claimed that it had destroyed tanks and armored vehicles. However, NPR did not find any weapons on the scene.

Two months ago, Russian ground forces retreated from the Kyiv region. The last airstrike against Kyiv occurred on April 28.

The Russian forces may have believed that they had found a valuable target when they launched a large strike against Kyiv. The country’s eastern side has seen the majority of heavy fighting during the 100-day-old war.

A railway official from Ukraine stated that he was the first to see the scene and witnessed with his own eyes that there were no military objects.

Journalists who were invited to the scene discovered caved-in roofs and crumbling brick walls. Broken glass crunching underfoot and one structure still burning. However, no weapons were visible.

“We don’t have any military machinery in our factory. Alexander Kamyshin (CEO of Ukraine’s railways) stated on Twitter that only freight railcars are needed to export grain and iron ore.

Russian ships have stopped Ukrainian grain exports via sea. This has forced Ukraine to use trucks and trains to move the grain out of the country. However, this comes with many logistical challenges. The Ukrainian government has trapped more than 20 million tonnes of grain, causing a food crisis worldwide.
