150 people attended this Friday the gala dinner of the Association of Galician Businessmen of Catalonia (AEGA-CAT), which took place at the Eurostars Gran Marina 5 hotel. The event, which reached its 18th edition, featured a large representation of the Catalan and Galician institutional, business and social spheres.

The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, highlighted the “new resurgence” of Galicia as a place with doors open to anyone who wants to visit, live or invest in it. “A long time ago we left the topic of the Galicia of delay. Today we are the powerful Galicia”, said Rueda.

The event was also attended by the Government delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto; the delegate of the Government of the Generalitat in Barcelona, ??Joan Borras; the Barcelona City Council Commissioner for Culture, Xavier Marcé; the president of the AEGA-CAT, Carlos Fernández; and the president of the Hotusa Group, Amancio López.

The dinner was the setting to recognize the personal and professional trajectory of people who contribute to the economic, cultural and social development of Galicia through the delivery of the 2023 Galician Certificates of Excellence.

As reported by AEGA-CAT in a statement, the winners are Galician professionals recognized for “their human qualities, their successful professional careers and the pride always shown by their origins”.

In the company category, the general director of the Froiz supermarket group, José María Froiz, was awarded, and in the new entrepreneurs category, the co-founder and CEO of the Lazzaro technology company, Carlota Corzo. In Science and Medicine, the head of the melanoma group at the National Cancer Research Center, María Soledad Soengas, who also chairs the Spanish Association for Cancer Research, was awarded.

The Galician Alzheimer Federation (FAGAL) received the “Solidarity Action” award in the figure of its president María Isabel Gey Pérez, while the actor Luís Zahera was recognized in the “Arts” category and the soccer player Verónica Boquete in the Sports category . For her part, the journalist Victoria Prego received the award from the Galician businessmen in the Communication section for her long professional career.

The president of AEGA-CAT and CEO of Filmax, Carlos Fernández, stated that each of the winners “has shown their commitment to their values ??and principles”. The Association of Galician Businessmen of Catalonia (AEGA-CAT) brings together more than five hundred companies and was created in 1989 with the intention of bringing together all Galician businessmen based in Catalonia, promoting business opportunities among members and channeling investments towards Galicia. .
