The Reus City Council (Tarragona) has published this Monday the tender for the contracts for the drafting of the Master Plan for Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), the executive project, construction management and health and safety coordination of the first infrastructure for drain and recover rainwater in the old urban channel of the L’Escorial stream.

This project aims to prevent and reduce the effects of climate change, facilitate citizens’ access to this green space, as well as increase biodiversity in the area and improve the resilience of the territory.

This infrastructure, the first in Reus that wants to take advantage of rainwater as a measure in response to the drought situation, has been put out to tender for an amount of 184,000 euros, of which 145,200 are allocated to the master plan.

Both works put out to tender this Monday by the Reus City Council are part of the RENATUReus project, which seeks to renaturalize the city, and which has already planned works such as the naturalization of the surroundings of four schools that are Pompeu Fabra, General Prim, Teresa Miquel and Marià Fortune.

The RENATUReus project has begun at the beginning of 2024 and has a total budget of 4.2 million euros, financed with Next Generation aid from the European Union, which has three strategic plans: green and blue biodiversity infrastructure, climate shelters and Reus Urban Sustainable Drainage Systems, which forms this infrastructure.
