Renfe has announced that it will strengthen the offer between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Barcelona with a complementary shuttle bus service due to the impact on the South R2.

During rush hour -Monday to Friday- between 06:00 to 09:00 in Barcelona; and in the opposite direction, towards Sant Vicenç de Calders, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. In this way, the Regional trains (R13, R14, R15, R16 and R17) will continue to Barcelona, which, due to the capacity restriction in the Castelldefels-El Prat de Llobregat section, must end their journey in Sant Vicenç.

The complementary shuttle bus services that link Barcelona with Castelldefels, Gavà and Sant Vicenç de Calders will offer 35,000 weekly seats, as indicated by the railway company.

Cercanías transport tickets are valid for these shuttle services, so travelers will not have to pay anything more to use this travel alternative.

The commissioning of these shuttle buses has been decided taking into account the service headers of the R2 Sud line, that some trains must end in Sant Vicenç de Calders due to capacity restrictions and that the incident occurred in Gavà.

In the section Sant Vicenç de Calders – Cubelles, R2 Sud travelers have the usual number of frequencies, two trains per hour in each direction.

Renfe assures that it continues to work on expanding these shuttle bus services and is contacting companies in the sector that may have availability of vehicles and drivers.

As of this Saturday, new schedules have been implemented in the suburban services of the R2 Sud line affected by the signaling incident that occurred in Gavà on May 1st.

According to Renfe, the new timetables make it possible to offer a service with real information on passage times, as well as a travel time assimilated to the circumstances involved in managing traffic with ‘nominal telephone blocking’ between Castelldefels and El Prat.

The new schedule incorporates an increase in travel time of about 13 minutes. On the other hand, and to maintain the frequency in the R2 north, the Regional trains of the R11 (Portbou-Girona-Barcelona) will provide the usual service, and will stop at the stations between Granollers Center and Barcelona.

As for the three Intercity trains in each direction that circulate in the section affected by the incident, there will be a transfer by road between L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and Barcelona-Sants.
