The governability of Spain – it is a saying – can depend on Carles Puigdemont, king of chicken and demands, to whom the Spaniards – I am already sorry for him – have given him another chance to go down in history or shoot himself in the foot, very much his hobby. To facilitate the investiture of Sánchez, we would be facing the favorite candidate for the title of “Spanish of the year”.
At first glance, the independence movement is far, very far from being able to assume the feeling of Catalonia, something that the PSC of the triplet can do. It is just talking for the sake of talking, of course, because even if they do not reach 30% of the vote, the pro-independence forces always have at hand that 80% of Catalans are in favor of a referendum on independence (and 99% of paid holidays).
The years go by, the polls speak, but there remains the myth of 80% of Catalans in favor of a referendum, a simplistic trap that emerged from I don’t know what survey, that much-discredited method of listening to public opinion (and getting them to think what one wants).
One imagines that JxCat will be faithful to his soul and to the work of his leader, so that before we will have other elections than a President of the Government willing to give him satisfaction. According to another mantra in vogue, the two big Spanish parties have to offer the moon to the independence movement to solve… solve what?
By the same rule of thumb, the PP and PSOE could complain that there is no interlocutor for the independence movement nor does it know what it wants – beyond the systematic complaint – or if it wants it by DHL or ordinary postal mail.
Today, all of Spain is looking at Carlos Alcaraz and Carles Puigdemont, who will surely demand more than his strength allows him to aspire. And so, time passes, the years and the nostalgia for the historical days is cured. Meanwhile, Catalonia votes PSC for something: the majority of citizens are fed up with chicken and want to live in peace in this land of taxes.
The singular dilemma that the Spanish voters have passed to Carles Puigdemont, unequivocal proof of his esteem and admiration: either the peace of Waterloo or Spanish of the year.
