The former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, has asked for “verifiable facts before committing any vote”

In a message on the networks, he affirms that “the cardinal points of our position have not changed, no matter how much pressure and last-minute races there are, and some insults that get out of control. That is to say: we have no confidence in the Spanish political parties”

Puigdemont adds that “every precaution is little and promises do not warm us up or cool us down. The table of Congress, for us, is not going to have a position within, nor is it about the investiture. We cannot advance nationally based on promises made by those who always break them, and that is why verifiable facts are needed before committing any vote.

The former president has in his hands the decision on the vote of the seven deputies of Junts per Catalunya in the constitutive session of the Cortes that will be held tomorrow. His rejection would decant the presidency of the Chamber to the right.

In his message, Puigdemont adds that “it doesn’t matter if we talk about agreements for the table or agreements of more depth, such as the investiture. The Spanish political and media system talks about blackmail, but it is an error that reveals to what extent they ignore , whether due to disinterest or pride, the reality that has led us here. It is the result of a deep mistrust, based on real events, which will not disappear through an agreement and which a disagreement will not deepen.”
