Ximo Puig has denied this morning before journalists that Carlos Mazón has asked him to speed up the process of transfer of power in the Generalitat Valenciana. “The normal thing is that if he wants to shorten the deadlines, he tells me, from the beginning I have offered my full collaboration to Mr. Mazón”, indicated the still president of the Consell.

Puig has shown himself willing to carry out “an absolutely exemplary transition” as soon as possible as soon as the PSPV forms its parliamentary group, something that will happen in the national executive that the party will hold on July 5.

This has been stated after chairing the meeting of the PSPV-PSOE Electoral Committee, in which his party has set the guidelines for the next electoral campaign of the general elections, in which the visit of President Pedro Sánchez to the Valencian Community on July 15.

The socialist leader has described as “absolutely ridiculous” the discussion about whether the fact that Gabriela Bravo maintains her position in the Consell while she is already second vice president of the Mesa de les Corts is compatible. Puig recalled that this is not the first time something like this has happened, that it is a matter of a few days, and that among Bravo’s responsibilities is fire management, a vital issue at this time of year.

Regarding the economic situation of the Generalitat, Puig assures that it is “much better than in 2015”, despite the “underfinancing hole that accumulates in the historical debt” that, in his opinion, the State owes to the Community . “We leave this Consell with a balanced budget and, above all, without hidden invoices”, he assured. The Minister of Spain will offer a press conference on Monday in this regard.

Regarding the agreement announced between the PP and Vox in Extremadura, Puig has branded the position of the popular as “hypocrisy, cynicism and lack of courage when trying to whitewash, as has been done, the extreme right.” And he added: “from the first moment I said that they were going to reach an agreement because there was already a pre-established agreement everywhere”.

The general secretary of the PSPV-PSOE has urged the public to “react on July 23” because “going back with the measures that the PP and Vox are announcing is not the path for this society.” Puig has insisted that “Spain and the Valencian Community are in a magnificent situation and we have to continue along this path of progress.”

On the role of the Socialists in the opposition, the general secretary of the PSPV-PSOE has stated that it will be “an opposition with a tone that will have nothing to do with that of the PP in recent years.” “We will be a serene opposition that will monitor the government’s action and will be a radical opposition against the reduction of rights and freedoms.”
