The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, insisted yesterday on the need to adopt an urgent “offensive action” to guarantee the viability of the tile industry in the face of the “critical” situation generated by the increase in gas costs, with immediate measures that allow action to prevent the closure of companies.

At this juncture, the Valencian president, visiting Brussels, stressed that he had conveyed to the executive vice president of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, the need to achieve harmonization of direct aid to avoid distortion of competition that produces that countries with greater fiscal capacity can subsidize their companies more. “We ask for fairness and equal opportunities”, he has indicated.

Puig made these statements after the meeting held in Brussels with the head of the Unit for Relations with Member States in the European Commission’s General Directorate for Energy, Yolanda García Mezquita, as well as with the economic chief attached to the same general directorate, Miguel Gil .
