Ximo Puig has affirmed today that the Government of Spain “is intervening” and will have “the meetings that are necessary” to get Tesla to install a plant in the Valencian Community to manufacture electric cars and batteries, and has pointed out that the region will put “all its springs in order to facilitate it”. From his words it appears that Pedro Sánchez himself could hold a meeting with the owner of Tesla, Elon Musk.
This is how Puig pronounced himself in statements to the media this Tuesday in Valencia, where he indicated that the installation of the multinational “depends on many issues” and that “in all countries there are many negotiations.”
The head of the Valencian executive has indicated that during these years they have generated a “friendly space for investment” in the autonomy and that there are “many projects that could land in the Valencian Community”. In this case, he has indicated that his government “has never engaged in political and partisan adventurism” but has based these relationships on “credibility, trust and confidentiality in this case.”
Puig explained that these negotiations “are carried out normally and with the utmost confidentiality” and that he hopes that with the change of government, the projects “will not be altered and can be carried out.” “It is about the gear in the transfer of power absolutely facilitating the definitions of the projects”, she has indicated.
A few weeks ago it became known that the Generalitat Valenciana was close to closing an agreement with a multinational to install an electric car and battery manufacturing plant in Valencia. Since then, the option has been closed that it is Tesla, Elon Musk’s company, which was interested in investing 4,500 million euros in the Valencian Community; investment of more than the 3,000 that Volkswagen and its subsidiary Power Co are executing for the Sagunt gigafactory.
In recent days, it has been suggested that these leaks could have caused the negotiations to fail, but according to Ximo Puig’s words today, everything indicates that they continue. Tesla also negotiates with France and Italy.
Previously, in an interview this Tuesday in ‘Plaza Podcast’ collected by Europa Press, Puig has guaranteed that “the conversation is ongoing” with Tesla and that, when Carlos Mazón (PPCV) is sworn in as ‘president’, he will transmit “in detail all this information”. “And not only with this company, with others that are probably going to be located in the Valencian Community”, he added.
Likewise, it has slipped that there could be a meeting of Elon Musk’s company with the President of the Government. “I think they are going to meet with President Sánchez. But hey, it’s not up to me to say it,” he said.
