I share in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos this series of photographs of planes maneuvering in the sky, following the tradition of spotting.

Spotting is the observation and recording of airplanes (although also boats, trains and/or automobiles). It is a practice so popular among photography lovers that they are called spotters.

Spotting fans usually come equipped with good photographic material, with cameras with good objectives and lenses. But, in reality, this hobby knows no limits and can also be practiced with current cell phone cameras.

In the surroundings of El Prat airport there are at least three places prepared to enjoy this show. Each of them allows you to see the planes in a different way.

The area of ??stone benches is the most typical location and where there are the most people. It is also the one closest to the entrances. It is a triangle right next to the beginning of runway 25R, which is the one usually used for landings. There are about twenty stone benches in a hammock position.

The Mirador del Camí de Valencia is accessible on foot from the bank area. There is this other elevated observation point that allows you to see the same landing strip but this time the planes are seen from the side: an ideal perspective for spotters.

Another area is the Mirador Tubular. Just at the other end of the airport you can see the planes taking off from the usual runway (25L). It is best to access this place by car.

Another place is the Mirador de l’Illa, which is at the head of the take-off runway, very close to the beach and accessible on foot from the other viewpoints.
