Agents of the National Police have had to use their regulation weapon to dissuade three dogs that were defending their master from an arrest in San Isidro (Tenerife). The animals, considered potentially dangerous breed dogs, were taken to the veterinary hospital after being shot several times.

The police were trying to arrest the man for his alleged relationship with an anti-drug operation that was being carried out in the area of ??La Jurada, in the south of the island.

The incident has been recorded by the residents of the area and disseminated on social networks. Twitter users criticize the actions of the agents in front of the attacks and the training of these in situations with animals is questioned.

Due to the avalanche of comments on the networks, the animalist political party PACMA has denounced the incident in an official statement. The formation’s spokesperson, Yolanda Morales, has affirmed that she understands the “delicate situation” for the National Police but maintains that “these are not the ways” to act in an arrest, for which she points out that “action protocols are urgently needed for the security forces” in this type of situation so that they can be addressed “with common sense” and not “with shots”.

In the video you can see how two of the dogs attack one of the policemen who, at first, tries to defend himself with a stick. The man falls to the ground and another of his companions pulls out his weapon and shoots at the dogs, injuring one of them. Finally, the animals affected by the bullets approached the detainee.

According to sources from the Provincial Police Station to Efe, the agents have also been injured by the attacks of the dogs.

The events have occurred within the framework of an anti-drug operation by the National Police force in Tenerife that has ended with the arrest of eight people. It is under summary secrecy and is being handled by Court No. 4 of Granadilla.
