The National Police, within the framework of a joint operation with the Tax Agency, has arrested 18 people in several provinces who were part of a plot that organized neo-shamanic rituals with prohibited and dangerous drugs. The detainees promoted and set up meetings where these psychoactive substances were supplied in exchange for money.
At the Madrid Airport and in the searches carried out in the organization’s homes and safe houses, agents have seized narcotics such as a kilo of mescaline and 60 kilograms of ayahuasca. As reported this Wednesday by the Police, the arrests have occurred in Madrid, Barcelona, ??Malaga, Granada and Ibiza and the defendants are accused of belonging to a criminal organization and against public health, among other crimes.
The detainees clandestinely introduced the psychoactive substances they manufactured in Colombia. The organization maintained headquarters known as “epicenters of internal evolution” in Spain, in the cities where the subjects were detained (Madrid, Barcelona, ??Malaga, Granada and Ibiza) and in other countries such as France, Italy, Belgium. , Ireland, Finland, Romania, Malta, Mexico, Colombia and Turkey, among others.
The investigation began when agents specialized in the fight against destructive sects detected the presence of a commercial network that promoted the so-called new age sects through social networks and websites.
These advertisements promised an improvement in the physical and emotional health of the participants thanks to the consumption of different psychoactives. The operation has been directed by the Investigative Court number 43 of Madrid and by the Anti-Drug Section of the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
According to researchers, this type of psychoactive substances are used in neoshamanic rituals for coercive control of groups.
A doctor and his partner, who posed as a medical graduate, collaborated in the organization, endorsing and supervising the consumption of substances.
That is why some of the detainees are also charged with the crimes of human trafficking, professional intrusion, violation of workers’ rights, smuggling and violation of the immigration law.
The figure of the leader of the organization, who died during the investigation of the cause, was considered by his followers to be a spiritual teacher or guru. He was also charged with crimes against sexual freedom and indemnity and favoring clandestine immigration.
