Phoenix roller coaster stalls, prompting rescue of 22 riders: report

Riders on a roller coaster in Phoenix got an experience they were not quite anticipating Saturday.

The”Desert Storm” ride in the Castles N Coasters theme park postponed, leaving 22 passengers trapped about 20 feet above the ground while the journey was on its own side.

The Almarez family were one of the last riders to be rescued after firefighters arrived around 5:30 p.m.. The family had been stranded for approximately two weeks, the report said.

“There were lots of children on there who were really fearful,” Christopher Almarez told FOX 10. “There was really one child that I was attempting to hold onto because she had been so tiny. She couldn’t hold herself up.”

The firefighters helped everybody grow a 30-foot ladder, the report stated .

No injuries were reported, police said.
