The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, made a surprise visit this Friday, the last day of the electoral campaign in Catalonia, to the center of Tarragona, amid cries of support and requests for photographs from many residents.

Sánchez, who yesterday Thursday participated in a PSC rally in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona), walked around Tarragona this Friday for an hour, before going to Barcelona in the afternoon, where he will take part in the final campaign event of the Socialists. Catalans.

Accompanied by leaders of the PSC, such as the deputy first secretary of the party, Lluïsa Moret, the head of the list for Tarragona, Rosa Maria Ibarra, or the mayor of the city, Rubén Viñuales, as well as the secretary of organization of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán, the chief of the Executive has visited the Central Market of Tarragona.

Subsequently, he walked along Rambla Nova until he reached the Balcó del Mediterrani, an emblematic viewpoint of the city from where you can see the sea, the Roman amphitheater and the port. Before leaving, Sánchez touched the iron railing that surrounds the viewpoint, a gesture that, according to legend, brings luck.

In recent days, the general secretary of the PSOE has dedicated himself to Salvador Illa’s campaign in Catalonia in the hope of strengthening the possibilities of the first secretary of the PSC to preside over the Generalitat. The polls place him as the winner of Sunday’s elections but far from a majority that would allow him to govern without the help of Esquerra or Junts.
