On Sunday, thousands of street parties will be held across the UK in celebration of the end of Britain’s four day celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
Trooping the Color, a military parade of 70 aircraft, and a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral have already marked the 70-year anniversary of her reign. On Saturday, there was a spectacular light show and concert outside Buckingham Palace.
The Jubilee Pageant is the final act. This four-act procession, currently on London’s streets, includes a military parade and theater, as well as cultural representations from across the Commonwealth. It also features a musical finale that Ed Sheeran sings.
Before returning to Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth II waved at the crowd. As the Jubilee came to an end, ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” was performed.
At the end of the parade, Queen Elizabeth II was seen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. This was her only appearance during the Jubilee celebrations.
The queen smiled as she looked out at the crowd. She was wearing vibrant green with her family, and before a cheery crowd. The queen stood tall as she surveyed the crowd while “God Save The Queen” was played.
Reporters who witnessed the event pointed out that the balcony was the same one where the queen appeared 70 years ago following her coronation.
After several live appearances, the queen felt “discomfort” and decided to skip a service at the church after her “journey and activity” for the first day of celebrations marking seven decades of her reign.
As the parade approached its end, Ed Sheeran, a singer, sang “Perfect” for Queen Elizabeth. The song was dedicated not only to the queen but also to Prince Philip, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh who died in April 2021.
The Union flag is removed and the Royal Standard flag raised. This signifies that the queen is at Buckingham Palace. When the queen is present, the Royal Standard flag will be flown.
Four yellow vest-clad men had to push one of the open-topped vehicles. The parade continued regardless.
Although we knew that the queen wouldn’t ride in her Gold State coach during the parade, the crowd was surprised to see her wave from the window. The real queen wasn’t there, it was a looped video of her coronation in June 1953 when she was only 25.
Today’s procession will include seven open-top buses decorated with one decade of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
British “national treasures” will ride inside, including Shirley Bassey, ex-england soccer player Gary Lineker, and IdrisElba. Basil Brush, the Vulpine TV puppet for children, will also be making an appearance.

There were many interesting sights at the event, including an effigy representing the queen at a table at an Ashby-de-la-Zouch street party.
Camilla, Duchess Of Cornwall, attended a “Big Jubilee lunch” at London’s Oval cricket field before the pageant.
The weekend’s finale celebrations have begun with the start of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. The Parade’s leader is the Gold State coach. The Jubilee Pageant sections have started to rev up ahead of the start at 2:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m.) ET).
As they pass Buckingham Palace, military bands are already performing, and a fleet of motorbikes, bikes, and Morris Minors (a famous car from the 1940s that has become synonymous with British quaintness) is starting to move into position.
A few model Daleks, an evil mutant race of “Doctor Who”, are also being moved into place. They will also be part of the procession.

Nearly 10,000 people will participate in the Jubilee Pageant. It is a 1.8-mile procession through the streets surrounding Buckingham Palace, starting at 2:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m.) ET). Parade participants will include military, theatre, and musical performers, as well “key workers” of the NHS.
The Gold State Coach will lead the pageant. It is an ornate royal carriage that weighs 4 tons. This carriage dates back to 1760s and was used by the queen during her 1953 coronation. However, the queen will not ride in it today.
Peter Stewart, executive director of the Eden Project charity, said that 16,000 street parties were registered in the U.K., and an estimated 10,000,000 people are expected join the event.
Two hours before the Jubilee Pageant begins, crowds are already gathering on the Mall. This wide avenue leads to Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square at one end.
Although jubilee fever may seem inevitable in the U.K. polling by YouGov shows that most Britons will ignore the pomp and ceremony. Last month’s survey found that 56 percent of adults did not plan to celebrate this regal occasion. Only 14% said that they would.
A YouGov poll last month revealed that while the queen is still very popular personally, only a third of 18-24-year-olds think the monarchy should be retained as an institution.
Street parties are a popular choice for people who feel the need to show solidarity after the two-year pandemic. There is little emphasis on the royals, according to some. Some were simply happy for the four-day weekend, and the chance to enjoy one of their favorite pastimes: alcohol.
Jack Monroe, a British food poverty activist, tweeted that they were going to a party Sunday to visit their family, “despite mixed feelings regarding the monarchy.”
Leanne Wood, former leader and founder of Plaid Cymru in Wales, wrote that Saturday’s jubilee party was “fantastic” — however, “there was very little mention of royals, except for a few jokes.”
After visiting Cardiff on Saturday afternoon, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge and her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis made cup cakes to send out to the street parties taking place in the Welsh capital.
Britain has enjoyed a warm and sunny summer while celebrating the jubilee. This has taken a turn.
The Met Office, the U.K’s national weather service is predicting rain across most of the country on Sunday. It is is issuing a thunderstorm alert for England and Wales from 6 p.m. (E.T.) ET).
It will also be cooler with temperatures remaining in the 50s to mid-60s.
It is not known how many, if any, of Sunday’s celebrations Queen Elizabeth II, 96, will be able to attend.
She was present at Thursday’s Trooping The Colour military parade. After that, she watched a Royal Air Force flypast form the Buckingham Palace balcony along with several other family members.
Unexpectedly, she also showed up later in the day to light a beacon at Windsor Castle. This was one of many lit that evening in her honour across the U.K.
The palace announced that she would be unable to attend Friday’s thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral because of “some discomfort” from the day’s events. She also missed Saturday’s Derby horse race at Epsom Downs in southwest London. She was also absent from the Platinum Party at Palace that night.
After suffering “episodic mobility issues,” the queen has had to cancel several events.
In a sketch, Queen Elizabeth II was seen with Paddington Bear. This was part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Buckingham Palace.
Although she was not able to attend, the broadcast of the monarch’s meeting and the animated character onto the building’s front lawn was broadcast.
She did the same at the 2012 London Olympics when she appeared in a prerecorded video alongside Daniel Craig’s James Bond. The queen also joined the gag, acting as a CGI bear voiced by Ben Whishaw.
Both admitted to having a marmalade sandwich while they were enjoying cream tea.
Prince Charles led tributes to his mother Saturday at the Platinum Jubilee concert near Buckingham Palace.

The queen, who is 96 years old, didn’t attend the concert. She hasn’t made public appearances since Thursday, when she was seen with other royal family members on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. Because of mobility issues, she was unable to attend the thanksgiving service at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Charles stated to the crowd that he wanted to pay his own tribute to your selfless service over the years.
