Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Nature Protection Service, have managed to arrest one person and investigate seven more for crimes against public health, fraud, against the market and consumers, for distributing and acquiring fish unfit for human consumption, the Civil Guard has reported in a statement.
The investigation originated last February, when Seprona Agents learned of the fraudulent removal of by-products that had been deposited for disposal and were being removed without control, reports Europa Press.
The agents carried out various checks, viewing a large number of security images that allowed them to verify how a person, dressed in work clothes, removed a container whose sign said that the goods deposited in it are not suitable for human consumption.
The surveillance carried out made it possible to identify the now detainee, identifying a necessary collaborator who helped him with the removal of the containers and the subsequent distribution of the merchandise.
The now detainee had the collusion of a local worker, who controlled the transit of merchandise and helped the principal investigated to load the goods.
Seprona surveillance revealed that the now detainee was taking the porexpan boxes that had been discarded, removing the labeling of the products and cleaning the fish without any kind of hygienic measure.
This person posed as a distributor, without having a health record or any authorization to do so. He had several bars and restaurants that bought the genre, thinking that it was cheaper since it was about to expire.
The agents, after verifying all the details and locating the establishments, requested the Food Quality Area of ??the Health Department of the Community of Madrid, carrying out eleven inspections at premises in Leganés, Humanes, Fuenlabrada and Madrid capital.
Given the sanitary and hygienic situation that one of the establishments presented, it was sealed by the health authorities. The owners of the premises have been investigated together with the collaborator who provided information and helped the main person investigated who was arrested.
It was possible to remove 150 kilograms of hake whose traceability revealed that it was a carrier of Anisakis simplex larvae and that it had been removed to distribute it to bars and restaurants.
