Officials said that Trouble, the man who was accused of shooting and killing him in Atlanta, turned himself in after his mother encouraged he to surrender to authorities.
Jamichael Jones (33), was arrested in connection to the shooting death of the artist. Officials said that the incident occurred at 3:20 a.m. on Sunday at the Lake St. James Apartments, Conyers. The apartment is about 25 miles east from Atlanta.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, he was taken into custody for Trouble’s murder and was released at 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
He was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault as well as home invasion, battery, and battery.
After his arrest in the early hours of the morning, Jones was captured in handcuffs with a green hoodie covering him head.
According to WXIA, a NBC affiliate in Atlanta, investigators focused their efforts on Jones by visiting locations where he was frequently seen. This led them to Jones’ mother’s home.
Deputies were able to talk to Jones over the phone, and he was convinced to surrender to them, according to the news station.
Jones was also allowed to choose the location and time of his arrest: Clayton County hospital.
Trouble was seen at the home of a woman during Sunday’s shooting.
According to Jedidia Canty, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Jones was in a “domestic relationship” with Trouble. Officials claim that he and Trouble didn’t know each other.
Jones allegedly broke into the women’s home and began shooting at Trouble, hitting him once in the chest. According to the sheriff’s office, he later died from his injuries.
Trouble visited a woman not identified or described as being injured.
Trouble, who is best known for songs like “Bring It Back,” and “Ain’t My Fault”, received many tributes.
In 2011, the artist, whose music reflected the gritty side of Atlanta’s life, released his first mixtape, “December 17th.”
Def Jam, one the rapper’s record label, posted a Sunday Instagram post in which it expressed condolences to Trouble’s family.
The post stated that he was “a true voice for his community and an inspiration to all of the communities he proudly represented.”
Tidal, the streaming music service, wrote on Instagram, “Rest in Peace, Trouble” to mark the sad day.
Alexis Skyy was Trouble’s ex-girlfriend. He announced his death on Twitter Sunday.
