Sergio Rico, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper and former Sevilla FC player, is admitted to the Virgen del RocÃo Hospital in serious condition after having suffered a fall from the horse he was riding in El RocÃo, Huelva.
The events occurred last Sunday morning, when he was enjoying the festive atmosphere. The 29-year-old athlete was urgently evacuated by helicopter by the health services after falling to the ground and being kicked by the animal in the neck area. According to the medical report, he suffered a head injury and his condition is “stable within gravity”, so the next few hours will be decisive.
Sergio Rico was called up last Saturday with the Parisian team to play in Strasbourg, a meeting he attended and where the French team in which Sergio Ramos also plays tied 1-1, a sufficient result to be proclaimed Ligue 1 champions.
After the match, the Andalusian traveled to El RocÃo to celebrate one of the most famous pilgrimages in our country, where he finally suffered the mishap that has his fans around the world worried, as well as his family and friends.
The goalkeeper’s family has spoken on social networks through a statement in which they talk about the goalkeeper’s current state of health and are heartily grateful for all the expressions of affection and support they are receiving.
”Sergio is in good hands, struggling to recover while receiving the best care from the entire team at Hospital Virgen del RocÃo. We must act prudently, especially in the next 48 hours,” expressed the worried family, but confident that everything will turn out well.
The relatives wanted to make it clear through the letter that they shared on social networks that they would update the information on the health of the goalkeeper as soon as possible, but that they were “waiting for results.”
They say that something good comes out of everything bad, and that is that popular support for the terrible episode that the goalkeeper and his family are experiencing has been overwhelming. When the news came to light, thousands of fans filled social networks with messages of love and support, something that those closest to Rico are very grateful for.
”We appreciate the expressions of affection, the messages and the interest of all of you who are asking about Sergio’s condition. Thank you for your support,” they wrote in the statement to end the text.
