North Korea's new hit song is a song in honor of Kim Jong Un

North Korea released a new propaganda song praising its leader Kim Jong-un as the “friendly father.” The music video, in which North Koreans and military personnel can be seen singing happily, aired on state-controlled Korean Central Television on Wednesday.

The song was performed live accompanied by an orchestra at a ceremony to celebrate the inauguration of a new 10,000-home development project in the capital, Pyongyang.

The music video features North Koreans from different backgrounds, from children to troops and medical personnel, exuberantly singing lines such as: “Let us sing, Kim Jong-un, the great leader” and “Let us brag about Kim Jong-un, a father friend.”

Kim waved to the crowd Tuesday as he arrived at the event in an armored limousine given to him by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He then cut a giant ribbon on top of one of the new buildings while fireworks went off.

Shortly after, the planes performed a flyby and singers serenaded Mr. Kim with the song “Friendly Father.”
