Today has not been any day. It was a Monday with an electoral hangover, after yesterday the municipal and regional elections were held throughout Spain. A day loaded with a lot of political content, since the result of the elections has been a matter of debate.
But everything was revolutionized again when the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, communicated this morning from La Moncloa that he had decided to advance the general elections a few months. And it is that the election day was scheduled for early December. But given the results of the last municipal and regional elections, the President of the Government wanted to bring the date forward.
The date chosen for the new election day will be next Sunday, July 23. This was declared by the President of the Government in an appearance without questions. “I have just held an office with His Majesty the King in which I have communicated to the Head of State the decision to convene an Extraordinary Council of Ministers this afternoon to dissolve the Cortes and proceed with the convening of general elections,” declared the socialist leader.
The call will appear published this Tuesday in the Official State Gazette. The Moncloa Palace communicated at 10 in the morning that the president would speak at 11 in the morning. Of course this appearance has been followed by all the media.
Reactions of all kinds have not been long in coming and one of the most commented on has been that of the radio presenter Àngels Barceló. The journalist was live on her program, Hoy por hoy, on Cadena Ser when Pedro Sánchez spoke live. Thanks to the cameras in the radio studios we have been able to see her peculiar reaction.
Upon hearing the government’s decision to advance the elections to July 23, Barceló could not help but raise his hands as a gesture of disbelief. And it is that the date of the elections is scheduled in the middle of summer. The journalist’s reaction has managed to go viral on social networks and many have declared that they feel very identified with Àngels Barceló.
