Fantastic experience in the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park, where nature is shown in its purest form and where it is possible to contemplate splendid flora and fauna, as seen in this report in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos. In particular, the presence of a wide variety of birds stands out, such as the elegant flamingos.

As for the vegetation, it has special characteristics that make it very different from that of other nearby areas. Rice crops and pastures alternate, of biological and landscape value.

The birds make these marshes their refuge and resting place. There are more than 300 species gathered in the Aiguamolls area, many of them protected

Specifically, at least 329 species of birds have been cited, 82 of them nest regularly. Those linked to aquatic environments are the most abundant and allow us to capture them with our camera.

For its part, among the mammals, the most typical of the Aiguamolls – in addition to the water rat – is the otter, which until the end of the 20th century was common and which is being reintroduced.

The common weasel is also present; the polecat, very common; Badger; the Fox; the genet or the fallow deer, reintroduced in 1987. If you are lucky you can also see the roe deer approaching the water.
