This autumn photographic report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia shows us the natural symmetries in Castell del Remei, an agricultural estate with wineries located in the Plana d’Urgell, in the municipality of Penelles (la Noguera), between Tàrrega and Balaguer, 40 km from Lleida.
Its vineyards are part of the Costers del Segre designation of origin. And among the vines we can discover the symmetries of the aligned trees, which only seem to be broken by the peacocks strutting between the vines.
Peacocks use their tail in mating and courtship rituals. They can open it into a spectacular fan that extends from the dorsal part of the animal to touch the ground on each side. Females choose their mates based on the size, color and quality of these extravagant tails.
The Castell del Remei estate is flat and irrigated. It is located 300 meters above sea level, on land that is an old lake bottom that is characterized by having limestone soils.
This land is an old lake bottom that is characterized by having calcareous and granite soils. The climate here is continental, with cold winters and hot summers, with little rainfall.
