Friends since the times when they worked together as chefs at El Bulli and partners since, after the closure of the emblematic restaurant in Cala Montjoi, they opened their first business, Share, in Cadaqués and later the Barcelonans Enjoy and Share, Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas have been jointly chosen by the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy as the best chefs of 2023.

The haute cuisine restaurant Enjoy, which they opened at the end of 2014, has risen this year to second place on the list of the best restaurants in the world, which has come to be led by the Peruvian Central, by Virgilio Martínez and Pía León.

The recently announced Best Chef Award 2023 that has been awarded to them ex aequo in this 2023 edition adds to the award they already received from the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy in 2021 in the category of Best Communication for the publication of the first volume of the book Enjoy, whose second volume will be released next month.

The Academy jury has highlighted the three members of Enjoy and Share “their impeccable track record, the immense creativity and the excellence of all the projects they undertake” and have also pointed out that their cuisine “has its own, authentic identity, which together to its overflowing creativity and unsurpassed technical level, result in a unique experience that the diner enjoys from beginning to end.”

For the Academy, the combination of the talent of Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas has given rise to what they have described as “one of the best restaurants in the world, and its cuisine is the heritage of our gastronomy.”

The 2023 National GAstronomy Awards gala will be held in Madrid on October 3, at a gala hosted by the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum.
