Mària Sànchez, the director of the first RTVE program on the environment, dies

Mària Sànchez, who was the first director of El escarabajo verde, the pioneering program on the environment on RTVE, has died at the age of 59 due to cancer. This has been reported by her own Corporation, a company in which she has developed her career, mainly as a media professional.

For this reason, RTVE wanted to dedicate a few lines to this colleague, whom they have classified as “an entire journalistic and personal reference for journalists and other professionals who have worked with her during her 35-year career at RTVE Catalunya”.

A goodbye that has undoubtedly shocked many colleagues in the house and also from outside it. Because Sànchez made a school by proclaiming herself the first director of this veteran format on the environment that has been broadcast on the channel since 1997.

“We echo the feeling of absolute dismay among all colleagues at the loss of this exceptional woman, both human and professional,” reads a statement from the TVE News Council in which they praised the “exceptional humanity” of Sànchez and his “extraordinary capacity for work”.

Also from Cafè d’idees, the RTVE Catalunya space, where they broke the news and wanted to dedicate a few words to it on the air. In fact, they have described her as “a benchmark for journalists and for the rest of the professionals who have worked with her during her 35-year career.”

A few words to which the mayor of Barcelona herself, Ada Colau, wanted to add, who through Telegram wanted to express her condolences to the journalist. “A great professional and a sensitive, generous and close person who made her love her from the very beginning,” the politician said with dismay. Like a sector, the journalistic, which today is in mourning for this loss.
