The three Spanish citizens died yesterday when they were attacked around 6pm in the Bamiyan market area by a man who appeared in an alley and began shooting indiscriminately at them, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, explained this Saturday. in an interview with radio station RAC1 citing the oral account of the survivors.

The fourth Spanish citizen, also Catalan, is in serious condition after having undergone surgery, according to Albares, although some sources suggest that she could be in critical condition.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is transferring several diplomats from Pakistan and Qatar to Kabul, including the Spanish ambassador to Afghanistan, who is in this second country since Spain evacuated its citizens after the Taliban came to power in the Asian country. .

The six Spaniards were part of an expedition of 13 foreign tourists, according to Rayed, who were visiting the city of Bamiyan, a popular tourist center in Afghanistan until the Taliban came to power.

At the moment, no insurgent or terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for this attack, although the jihadist group Islamic State, which has become the main rival of the Taliban since the withdrawal of international troops, has claimed responsibility for almost all of the attacks. attacks committed since the Taliban took power in August 2021.
