A large part of the Alhama CF El Pozo squad released a statement on social networks on Wednesday in which they deny “having been sexually harassed” by the team’s coach, Juan Antonio ‘Randri’ García. In the video, 15 players of the 22 that make up the squad of this Women’s League team appear.

“We have not been sexually harassed by our coach nor have we experienced any behavior of this nature in any way. If this had been the case, immediately, under the rule of law, we would have acted by denouncing the police or judicial authorities,” said Carmen Fresneda, a 27-year-old defense attorney, who was acting as spokesperson.

Randri García has been accused of degrading treatment of team members, in addition to allegedly being the author of insulting certain players due to their sexual condition. A photograph of the members of the Alhama coaching staff naked after showering and that was sent to the team’s WhatsApp group, in which there is a minor, at the end of March would have been the trigger.

“It has been reported to the media that the entire Alhama staff have made a unanimous complaint, which is not true. And that this complaint made a serious accusation of sexual harassment by our coach. A very serious criminal charge. Those of us who now subscribe to this video say that this is not the case”, Fresneda pointed out.

The case has been brought to the attention of the FutPro union, which has managed the matter both directly with the club and with the CSD. Alhama has already released a statement in which it denied “the existence of any serious incident” in relation to its players.

“Some of the information -Carmen Freesneda has continued- that the media are transferring, in the absence of being verified, is causing damage to the integrity of a coach, today described, from our point of view, unfairly, as a sexual harasser” .

“We ask for respect for the truth, for this squad, because these are very difficult days. From here we want to make it very clear that we are going to continue working to face the next games with professionalism. And, as footballers, there can be no doubt that we are going to continue fighting for our objectives of permanence ”, he concluded.
